But times have changed and the artists have no other choice but to make money from concert tours. Spotify offers a freemium which makes it even worse for the the artists. You do realize that music artists have the same issue with streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify whereas they get paid when their song is played and it's very little pay per play. Once again, spoken from a consumer standpoint with no numbers to back up such a statement. "They get paid by Microsoft to put their games on Gamepass, and Microsoft is paying them well enough to do it." Yep, spoken from a consumer standpoint with no numbers to back up such a thought. And if they don't, I hope Microsoft keeps up the pressure on Sony, because I want better value out of PS Plus. You are lining the pockets of the Sony execs and they are probably laughing at you for doing so.įor me, knowing that Sony is making such huge profits, much of it from Playstation, I think Sony can afford to bring some AAA games to PS Plus a bit earlier. If you are happy to make Sony more profitable, by saying they don't need to release AAA games to PS Plus earlier, then all the more power to you. If Sony is making such a huge profit, they can probably afford to bring some of the AAA games earlier to PS Plus, because Microsoft is doing just that. ![]() Having said that, Sony reported an operating profit of 1.21 trillion yen, much of it from Playstation sales (check that article). Sony needs to provide a better service with PS Plus then. The "company" that you are referring to that may struggle against Microsoft would be Sony. If the game companies aren't getting paid enough by Microsoft to put their games onto Gamepass, then those game companies are better off not taking the deal from Microsoft and just releasing their game independently. They get paid by Microsoft to put their games on Gamepass, and Microsoft is paying them well enough to do it. In general, the longer the AAA first party games take to be released on PS Plus, the better the value that Gamepass has compared to PS Plus, IMO. I would like to see God of War also released on PS Plus also within one year of its release, and that date is coming soon. Great game and it gave me more value on PS Plus. I was happy when Horizon Forbidden West was released on PS Plus within one year of its release. But at the minimum, Sony should be releasing their top AAA games onto PS Plus (perhaps Extra or Premium at the very minimum, but on Essential if Sony can afford it) within one year after release. I understand if Sony can't match the day one releases that Gamepass has, that's fine. You even get games like Wo Long from Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo, on day one of its release, which Microsoft doesn't even own. The fact that XBox and PC Gamepass get day one AAA releases for titles from Microsoft or Microsoft owned companies, is pretty sweet if you have Gamepass. At the same time, Sony needs to step up as well. Legacy Platforms: PS4 - PS3 - PS2 - PS1 - PSP Spoiler GuideĪlternatively, use the redesign spoiler tag found in the toolbar.īusiness is war.
